Camera gear for traveling photographer

Traveling photographers have a common problem- their camera bags are always too heavy to take as a handluggage to the aeroplane. I use to have the same problem but now I have been photographing and traveling with Olympus over one year. I am at the moment on photography commission to Hokkaido and this is photo of my Olympus camera bag. Great Grey Owls in Oulu

There are Great Grey Owls hunting out in open fields at the moment in Oulu, Finland. This is earlier than normally in Finnish winters. One reason might be that there is thicker snow cover than in normal winters. Also snow cover is quite hard since there has been some milder days between the cold cays. Days are still very short and there is not too much light, especially when it is cloudy day. Hopefully the owls will stay through the winter and later in January there will be much more light available to photograph them - especially if we get the high pressure from Siberia with cold temperatures...

Red Squirrels at the feeder

This is test posting to my just opened blog page. We have a bird feeder just next to our house in our garden. Garden is surrounded by forest so there is good variation of birds visiting the feeder, but also Red Squirrels.  I set up part of the feeder so close to the house that I can photograph the birds and squirrels from the window of our bedroom! Wildlife photography doesn't get much easier than this - or does it?  This time of the year days are very short in Finland and I am planning to test Olympus flashes to photograph the visitors at the feeder.   This photo is taken...
