Camera gear for traveling photographer

  • January 21, 2018

Traveling photographers have a common problem- their camera bags are always too heavy to take as a handluggage to the aeroplane. I use to have the same problem but now I have been photographing and traveling with Olympus over one year. I am at the moment on photography commission to Hokkaido and this is photo of my Olympus camera bag.

I have the following equipments in a bag:

  • Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II bodies  3 pieces with batteries inside
  • M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 8 mm 1:1.8 Fisheye PRO
  • M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-100 mm 1:4.0 IS PRO lens
  • M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 40-150 mm 1:2.8 PRO
  • M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 300 mm 1:4.0 IS PRO
  • HLD-9 battery grips 2 pieces with batteries inside
  • 1,4 x teleconverter
  • 6 spare batteries
  • Lens clothes

Olympus camerabag with all the equipments mentioned above weights 8.85 kilos at Haneda Airport at the ANA counter and they are happy to accept this bag as a handluggage! What a great relief – since I used to try to hide my old heavy camera bag from the airport officials. Olympus equipment has changed my life as traveling wildlife photographer a lot!

By the way – please remember to pack all the camera batteries in your hand luggage! If you put your batteries to the luggage hold in your suitcase they might be taken away by officials!
